Monoklonaler Antikörper zur Prävention von RSV-Infektionen ausgezeichnet
Den Prix Galien in der Kategorie «Primary & Speciality» erhält in diesem Jahr Beyfortus® (Nirsevimab) der Firma Sanofi. Der monoklonale Antikörper schützt erstmals alle Neugeborenen unabhängig vom Gesundheitsstatus vor RSV – mit nur einer Dosis pro Saison. Damit schliesst er eine bedeutende Versorgungslücke in der Prävention.
Zur Begründung der Preisvergabe an Nirsevimab erklärte Prof. Dr. Anne Leuppi-Taegtmeyer, Mitglied der Jury des Prix Galien Suisse: «Beyfortus® ist innovativ, zeigt grosse Wirksamkeit, indem es schwerwiegende Verläufe verhindert, und entlastet somit bewiesenermassen das Schweizer Gesundheitssystem. Die Innovation, welche in Beyfortus® steckt, ist eine molekulare Anpassung, welche nach einer einmaligen Gabe einen Schutz von mindestens fünf Monaten ermöglicht.»
